Ranger 170VS: The Dream Is Closer Than You Think
FLIPPIN (September 27, 2006) Anglers who dream of taking to the water on board a legendary fishing boat take notice: the dream is closer than you think. Built with the same quality that is synonymous with every Ranger Boat while delivering the same unparalleled fishability and an abundance of value, the new Ranger 170VS will help more anglers realize the joy of the boating lifestyle by owning the best-built boat on the water.
While being more accessible to more anglers, the 170VS does this without sacrificing the must-have fishing and handling features that serious anglers have come to expect from Ranger Boats. Rated for a maximum 115 horsepower, this fishing platform has plenty of power for faster hole shots and quick runs to favorite fishing holes. Plus, this boat fits easily into most garages, making it ideal for families and first-time boat owners who want to experience life on the water with those closest to them - but can't give up all the space needed to store larger boats.
"The 170VS is a factory-equipped, full-featured rig built to open up even more opportunities to anglers and families. Comfort, convenience and fishablility take center stage with this design and our upright, level foam floatation delivers even more peace of mind, said Ranger Boats President Randy Hopper. "Whether you're looking at combining this with vehicles of limited towing capacity or hitting the road with the added freedom of RV travel, the 170VS is an ideal match up to a wide variety of fishing lifestyles."
Stretching 17 feet, passengers on the 170VS will find many of the same features found on most performance fishing boats utilized by professional anglers. A recirculating, aerated livewell with filter screens and timers, rod storage under both sides of the front deck and a generous center storage compartment also under the deck are all standard on this single-console boat. The boat also offers quick access to batteries, breakers and pumps with all electronics using corrosion-resistant wiring and resetable breakers. Available with a wide range of precision-matched outboards, the boat features an instrumentation panel that includes speedometer, tach, fuel, trim and water pressure gauges.
Featuring custom-fitted premium marine upholstery on the interior, the 170VS has a three-seat bench and two all-weather fold down seats on pedestals for use on the front and rear decks - a must for any serious fishing boat. It's 17-foot length makes this boat easy to maneuver on the water and ideal for fishing structure like docks and trees that are common to most big-bass lakes.
Equipped with a single-axle, custom-matched RangerTrail trailer, the 170VS is easy to tow and enjoys the smooth trailering benefits of custom alignment and individually balanced wheels. Up front, the center swing jack retracts flush to the frame and creates a more balanced load, making it even more secure on the trailer. Combined with matching fenders, aluminum wheels, matching spare tire and wheel, Ranger's exclusive oil bath COOL Hub® lubrication system, torsion axle suspension, and swing-away tongue, the RangerTrail trailer delivers lasting peace of mind and easy towing.
