RANDY HOPPER TO BE INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME

FLIPPIN (October 3, 2005) From sweeping up in the factory to running the business in the board room, Randy Hopper has played multiple roles during his career at Ranger Boats. Now, Hopper has received one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on an Arkansan.

Hopper, along with two other natives of Arkansas, was inducted into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame on Sept. 23 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Joining Hopper as 2005 inductees were Dr. Mamie Parker of Washington, D.C., and Butch Richenback of Stuttgart, Ark.

“It’s an honor to be included with such great Arkansans who have done so much for conservation and in turn, those of us who love the outdoors,” Hopper said.

The Outdoor Hall Of Fame, which began in 1992 as a project of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation and Ducks Unlimited, recognizes achievements in outdoor fields and in the conservation of wildlife habitat. Among those already enshrined in the Outdoor Hall of Fame is Forrest L. Wood, founder of Ranger Boats, who was among the first group to be inducted.

Hopper’s credentials for induction into the Hall of Fame speak for themselves: Hopper has directed the best-known fishing boat company as president for 16 years and has devoted much of his energy to activities for young people. Hopper grew up in Flippin – home to Ranger Boats – during the early years when Ranger Boats was building its reputation under Wood’s leadership and living by the credo “We still build them one at a time.”

Since joining, Hopper has ascended through the organization, eventually becoming the night supervisor while still a teenager and moving onto plant management. He became the company’s president in 1989.

“As president of Ranger Boats, I want to continue to build the best boats on the water,” Hopper said. “And I want to use our success to help build an interest in fishing with today’s young people – they are the future of fishing.”
