Ranger Boats® and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) have entered into a multi-year agreement resulting in two custom-designed, high-performance, limited-series Ranger/NASCAR bass boat packages, in addition to other promotional marketing opportunities. 2002 Daytona 500 Champion Ward Burton and 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte, both avid outdoors enthusiasts, will be featured as spokespeople for the Ranger/NASCAR limited-series boats.
"We believe this relationship makes a great deal of sense for both Ranger and NASCAR," Ranger Boats President Randy Hopper said. "NASCAR is the number one spectator sport in America with a loyal fan base of more than seventy-five million fans and research shows that a large percentage of these fans are spending their free time fishing. And because NASCAR fans and fishing enthusiasts tend to be passionate about their favorite pastimes, they incorporate them as part of their lifestyle. For that reason, this new relationship is a great way for our customers to demonstrate their affinity for both of their passions at the same time."
A recent Simmons National Consumer Survey found that NASCAR fans are nearly twice as likely as non-fans to have gone boating or fishing in the past twelve months. In addition, NASCAR fans are nearly twice as likely to own fishing equipment.
"It has always been important for NASCAR to form relationships with partners we feel have the highest-quality products and most appeal to our fans," said NASCAR Vice President of Licensing and Strategic Marketing Steve Boguski. "There is no better known or respected name in the fishing industry than Ranger Boats. And any NASCAR fan that is an avid fisherman would be proud to own one of these limited-series boats."
The Ranger/NASCAR limited series boats will come in two models and two different color packages. Consumers will have the option to "dress out," in NASCAR style, either the new 2003 Ranger 19-foot 519VX or 21-foot 521VX bass boat packages.
"The boats will be very special in many aspects," Hopper said. "The limited series boats will include a performance component package complete with foot throttle and hydraulic engine lift. The Ranger/NASCAR limited series boats represent the ultimate total performance package Ranger has to offer. Beyond our Signature Quality promise each boat hull will be individually honed to exacting tolerances."
Each boat will also be built with custom paint schemes and exterior decal and design options. These options include custom seats (both bench and pedestal), a unique Ranger/NASCAR logo carpet inlay, console emblems, side decals and trailer fairings. And each boat will include a plaque bearing the name of the purchaser.
In addition to the limited series boat, several other Ranger/NASCAR promotions are planned. An elite, hand-picked NASCAR pro-fishing team will be competing in some of the nation's leading fishing events using their limited series boats and matching apparel. Future promotions will also be developed to tie NASCAR fan's affinity for fishing.
